To Measure Dancers: Dancers BETTER wear fitted attire but NOT street clothes, with proper undergarments in order to ensure an accurate measurements the most. For consistency, select one person to take measurements for all the dancers using the same measuring tape and select a separate person to write down the measurements of each.
When measuring, instruct dancers to stand up straight, look forward, and take a deep breath in and out to allow for a natural fit and additional room. This is important when taking the girth, bust and waist measurements especially.
Bust - Measure around the fullest of the chest, keep the tape horizontal and have dancer stands with arms down at her sides.
Waist -Instruct dancers to bend over to one side and have the measurer place a finger at the indentation so to identify the natural waistline. After the dancer stands up, use this point as the indicator for where to tape around the waist.
Hips - Have dancer stands with her feet together and measure around the fullest part of the buttocks.
Girth -GIRTH is the MOST important measurement for determining size for one-piece garments. Place the tape at the top of one shoulder, measuring over the fullest part of the chest, down the torso, through the legs and back up to the same shoulder top, make sure the tape follows close to the body shape.
Inseam - Place the tape at the inner leg, measuring from the crotch all down way to the floor without shoes or slippers please.
